چکیده
Numerical modeling of seepage-induced consolidation process usually encounters significant uncertainty in the properties geotechnical materials. Assessing effect uncertain parameters on performance variability seepage model is critical importance to simulation and tests this process. To end, sensitivity analyses are performed a fractured porous medium using Bayesian sparse polynomial chaos expansion (SPCE) method. Five including Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio, permeability matrix, within fracture, Biot’s constant studied. SPCE models for displacement, flow velocity magnitude, fluid pressure at several reference points constructed represent input-output relationship numerical model. Based these models, total first-order Sobol’ indices computed quantify contribution each input parameter responses. The results show that different locations domain, effects output quantities. At beginning process, hydraulic make major contributions As progresses, decreases gradually surpassed by mechanical parameters. This work demonstrates feasibility apply approach problems provides guidelines modelling experimental testing such problems.

Barometric pumping of a fractured porous medium
Barometric pumping plays a crucial role in the release of trace gases from fractured porous media to the atmosphere, and it requires a rigorous and complete modeling in order to go beyond the approximate schemes available in the literature. Therefore, a coupled set of convection and convection-diffusion equations for a slightly compressible fluid in unsteady conditions should be solved. The num...

15 صفحه اولA Discrete Singular Convolution Method for the Seepage Analysis in Porous Media with Irregular Geometry
A novel discrete singular convolution (DSC) formulation is presented for the seepage analysis in irregular geometric porous media. The DSC is a new promising numerical approach which has been recently applied to solve several engineering problems. For a medium with regular geometry, realizing of the DSC for the seepage analysis is straight forward. But DSC implementation for a medium with ir...
متن کاملFlow-induced channelization in a porous medium
Flow through a saturated, granular, porous medium can lead to internal erosion, preferential flow enhancement, and the formation of channels within the bulk of the medium. We examine this phenomenon using a combination of experimental observations, continuum theory and numerical simulations in a minimal setting. Our experiments are carried out by forcing water through a Hele-Shaw cell packed wi...
متن کاملThermoplastic Micromodel Investigation of Two-Phase Flows in a Fractured Porous Medium
In the past few years, micromodels have become a useful tool for visualizing flow phenomena in porous media with pore structures, e.g., the multifluid dynamics in soils or rocks with fractures in natural geomaterials. Micromodels fabricated using glass or silicon substrates incur high material cost; in particular, the microfabrication-facility cost for making a glass or silicon-based micromold ...
